Nestled in Fossil Basin, Fossil Island Golf Club in Kemmerer offers a distinctive golfing experience that blends natural beauty with unique course design. Established in 1920 and crafted by renowned architect Dick Phelps, this public 9-hole course is celebrated for its challenging layout and picturesque setting along the Hams Fork River. 

A standout feature of Fossil Island Golf Club is its dual island green—the only one of its kind in the United States! This design presents golfers with two separate par-5 holes, each culminating on its own island green, offering both a visual spectacle and a test of skill. 

The course spans 3,240 yards from the longest tees, with a par of 36, a course rating of 34.3, and a slope rating of 113. Its layout includes two par-3s, five par-4s, and two par-5s, accommodating players of varying skill levels. Multiple tee boxes allow golfers to choose distances that match their abilities, ranging from 2,906 to 3,300 yards. The course is also right along the Kemmerer Walking Path, and has easy community access.

Beyond the course itself, Fossil Island Golf Club offers a range of amenities to enhance the golfing experience. Facilities include a driving range with three practice tees, a putting green, and a full-service pro shop stocked with equipment from top brands like Titleist, TaylorMade, Callaway, Ping, Cleveland, Nike, and Adidas. Golfers can also enjoy a refreshing bar and fun practice area, making it a welcoming spot for both locals and visitors. 

The club operates seasonally from April through October, with green fees for 9 holes estimated at $30. Season passes are available, with rates for juniors starting at $140 and regular adult passes at $405.
